THE BRIEF

To create a garden with a lawn that would look attractive all year round.

THE SPACE

A rectangular garden in partial shade surrounded by a mature hedge, 3.5x3m.

THE DESIGN

In the centre of the garden, a grass lawn is rolled out. A strip along the path is planted with elegant evergreen agapanthus Africanus (African lily), which produces arrows of blue and white flowers in summer and autumn. The asymmetrical design is completed with Carex oshimensis ‘Everest’, an ornamental grass with dark green leaves adorned with silvery-white edges, which provides year-round colour.

The highly shaded area at the bottom of the hedge, where grass would struggle to grow, is planted with Lonicera Pileata, low-growing, dense evergreen shrubs with beautifully arching branches that produce white flowers in spring and purple berries in autumn.
